Question-Persuade-Refer (QPR) training is an ideal introduction to suicide prevention for anyone who wants to know how to help a friend, family member, co-worker or client in crisis. QPR is designed to increase one’s ability to recognize suicidal thoughts and behaviors, ask clearly and directly about suicide, and refer the person who is at risk to a professional resource.
By the end of this training, participants will know how:
• to recognize the early warning signs of suicide
• to ask the person about thoughts of suicide
• to persuade the person to get help
• to refer the person to help
• to offer hope
