USDA-NIFA Laying Hen and Turkey Research Competitive Program Virtual Stakeholder Listening Session
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) seeks input to establish a new Laying Hen and Turkey Research competitive grant program. 7 USC Section 5925 of the FY2023 Omnibus Appropriations Bill provided $1,000,000 to NIFA for research in Laying Hen and Turkey production. NIFA plans to implement this program by supporting one or more integrated, collaborative poultry research and technology transfer projects for improving the efficiency and sustainability of laying hen and turkey production. As a stakeholder, customer or partner, you are invited to contribute your expert opinion on how Federal investments can best address current needs and challenges facing laying hen and turkey production. Ultimately, this information will guide development of a Request for Applications. Input may be submitted by: • Participating in a virtual stakeholder listening session on February 14, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Each participant may speak for up to 3 minutes. • Submitting written comments (2-page limit) to: NIFA.LHT@usda.gov by February 24, 2023. Please plan to provide input to guide development of the new NIFA Laying Hen and Turkey Research Competitive Grant Program as described above. Questions may be directed to NIFA.LHT@usda.gov.
