She is also Adjunct Faculty at The Fenway Institute and leads the Sexual Health and Reproductive Experiences (SHARE) Lab at Brown University. As a social epidemiologist, Dr. Agénor investigates health inequities in relation to multiple social positions and power relations—especially sexual orientation and heterosexism, gender and (cis)sexism, and race/ethnicity and racism—using an intersectional lens and a mixed-methods research approach. She holds a Doctor of Science (ScD) in Social and Behavioral Sciences with a concentration in Women, Gender, and Health from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, a Master of Public Health (MPH) in Sociomedical Sciences from Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health, and a bachelor’s degree (AB) in Community Health and Gender Studies from Brown University. Dr. Tonia Poteat (she/her) Associate Professor in the Department of Social Medicine at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill (UNC), core faculty in the UNC Center for Health Equity Research, and a clinician at UNC Infectious Diseases Clinic. Her research attends to the health of people living with and affected by HIV, particularly lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender adults. Certified by the American Academy of HIV Medicine and the World Professional Association for Transgender Health, she is a global leader in HIV care and research with transgender persons. Dr. Poteat earned a bachelor’s degree in Biology from Yale University, Master of Medical Science from Emory University’s Physician Assistant (PA) Program, a Master of Public Health from Rollins School of Public Health, and a PhD from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Dr. Kirk Henny Associate Director for the Office of Health Equity (OHE) in the Division of HIV Prevention (DHP). Dr. Henny earned his bachelor’s degree in Sociology from James Madison University (1994); and his masters and doctoral degrees in medical sociology from Howard University (1999 and 2004, respectively). His CDC experience includes extensive work in the field of HIV prevention and care as a behavioral scientist and epidemiologist. Since being selected as Associate Director for OHE in 2022, Dr. Henny has provided division-level guidance for implementing research, programmatic and external partnership engagement focused on embedding health equity and reducing health disparities within HIV care and prevention activities. A key accomplishment that exemplifies his leadership is the implementation of the DHP Equity Plan, a comprehensive strategic plan to advance equity in the division. The plan includes over 60 activities focused on advancing equity regarding workplace culture; workplace policies. Torrian Baskerville Torrian L. Baskerville is the director of HIV and Health Equity at the Human Rights Campaign (HRC). He leads the organization’s national HIV work with a keen emphasis on ensuring racial and social equity are centered through a people-first lens. Before HRC, Torrian was a manager on the Prevention team at NASTAD – he led the Capacity Building and Technical Assistance work relative to HIV stigma, social determinants of health, cultural responsiveness, and gay, bisexual, and other same-gender-loving men (GBM) to health departments (HDs) and community-based organizations (CBOs) in the South. Torrian also worked as Statewide LGBTQ Prevention Manager for the Hyacinth AIDS Foundation – he oversaw multiple state and CDC-funded HIV prevention and PrEP programs across New Jersey. In addition, Torrian has been part of several advisory boards and committees, including his role as board chair of The Door – Adolescent Health Center in New York City.
