Now more than ever, addressing mental health is important for all of us, including faith communities. But many times, faith leaders don’t know where to start. Our new resource, Compassion in Action: A Guide for Faith Communities Serving People Experiencing Mental Illness and their Caregivers, provides this starting point and outlines the first steps to address mental illness for those in their congregation and community. The Compassion in Action Webinar Series will describe ways faith and community groups are addressing the needs of those with mental illness and their caregivers. Through the Guide and this webinar series, we hope to encourage more faith communities to walk with and provide community for a lifetime to people with mental illness and their caregivers.
In this first webinar, the HHS Partnership Center will provide an overview of this new and timely resource, Compassion in Action: A Guide for Faith Communities Serving People Experiencing Mental Illness and their Caregivers. We will begin with the seven principles that can serve as a starting point for faith and community leaders who want to address mental health in their congregation and their community. It will also note some of the recommended action items for putting these compassionate principles into action.
