A Proven Lifeline: Keeping Hope in Mind While Addressing the Complexities of Mental Illness
Faith communities are places of hope. People often seek faith leaders when they need hope in their present circumstances or challenges in life. Mental illness may be one of those circumstances. At the same time, providing support and care to people with mental illness can be challenging. It is important for faith leaders and communities to understand the unique challenges posed by a mental health diagnosis and set their expectations accordingly.

These ideas are embedded in Principles 6 and 7 highlighted in the Compassion in Action Guide, which help faith communities address mental illness. This webinar will highlight groups and leaders that can help groups know how to address the challenges of mental illness as well as helping these individuals hold on to hope that wellness is possible with a mental health diagnosis.

Compassion in Action Webinar Series: Action Steps by Faith Communities to Address Mental Illness**
The Compassion in Action Webinar Series will describe ways faith and community groups are addressing the needs of people with mental illness and their caregivers. Through the Compassion in Action Guide and this webinar series, we hope to encourage more faith communities to walk with and provide community for a lifetime to people with mental illness and their caregivers.
