During a live webinar at 5:00 p.m. Eastern on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD) Extramural Research Training Officer Alberto Rivera-Rentas, Ph.D., will discuss R25 funding initiatives designed to foster the development of the NIDCD’s clinician-scientist workforce. He will also answer participant questions.
We have introduced three new R25 training programs in the past year. Each has a slightly different training focus intended to support the development of the NIDCD clinician-scientist workforce. One program, the NIDCD’s Mentored Research Pathway for Otolaryngology Residents and Medical Students, supports research experiences for residents and medical students in otolaryngology residency training programs. Two additional programs are designed to provide support for broad-based initiatives to fund the development of national mentoring and research experiences for clinician-scientists.
These new programs will expand our biomedical research workforce by encouraging clinician-scientists to participate in research in the NIDCD’s mission areas: hearing, balance, taste, smell, voice, speech, and language. This webinar will explain the three new programs and answer pre-submitted and live questions.
